As a Financial Advisor with less than a year in the business, I was looking for advice from a seasoned veteran and specific ways to build my business. On the positive side, this book delivered the main concepts. I now know that seminars, newsletters, referrals and cold calling are the techniques to use. Still on the positive side, the book also motivated me with stories and “sales” quotes (those little pithy sayings attributed to outlandish people but which have a kernel of truth). One more positive: the references at the end are probably worth the price of the book. On the negative side, the book seemed to be dictated into one of those “speech recognition software” packages because it is full of mistakes and typos — almost to the point of being unreadable. No human familiar with the English language ever proofed the draft. My other criticism is that organization and development of ideas are lacking. It is a “stream of consciouness” work. Thoughts begin to develop and suddenly the author throws in completely new ideas that take off in new directions. This means you get main points but they are not specifically developed. Overall, if you want something to motivate and excite and reading about financial planning is your passion, I would recommend this book. It has a couple weaknesses but is well worth the money.
